The Auckland Warriors 1993 Retro Rugby League Jersey!
In 1993, the Auckland Rugby League was awarded a NSWRL license, leading to the creation of the Auckland Warriors. Initially, the Warriors were scheduled to join the 1994 NSWRL competition, but delays from the Cowboys, Crushers, and Reds meant that all four teams would begin the following season instead.
Despite this, the 1993 Auckland Warriors Colts were first team to ever wear the jersey, playing against the Northland U19 team as a curtain raiser to the Round 2 clash between the Brisbane Broncos and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. An Auckland Warriors Colts team later toured Australia and played against Penrith, Parramatta and Central Coast, winning all three of these games.
The original jersey colours of blue and white represented the colours of Auckland Rugby League, while the red and green matched major sponsor, DB Bitter.
